The Story of Kimchii Cleanser
I wanted to develop a brand and products that were deeply personal - born out of my passion for wellness, my cultural roots, my love for healthy Korean foods and in particular kimchi, the original probiotic superfood. I set out to unlock all the health and healing benefits of the Korean foods I grew up eating. Koreans believe that kimchi not only promotes gut health but also improves skin health. I wanted to discover how fermented, probiotic ingredients could help the skin not just from the inside out but from the outside in. I still struggle with pimples that pop up when I'm stressed or hormonal. My teen daughter, Natalie is a competitive fencer, always seems to breakout whenever she has practice, triggered by sweat and bacteria infested equipment (hello Petri dish). I know a lot of parents can relate with this!
Together with our lab partner in the US, I developed "Kimchii Cleanser" the first product of its kind on the market. We set out to develop the cleanest, most gentle, daily cleanser that helps to prevent and treat breakouts. With only 13 essential ingredients, it's main active ingredients are 2% Salicylic Acid, apple fruit extract and white radish fermented with a probiotic called L. Kimchii. Results from a study show that this natural anti-microbial ingredient inhibits the growth and proliferation of C. Acnes, the main cause of acne. It also reduces bacteria, yeast, mold by 99% in 30 seconds.
This was my "aha" moment.
After a decade-long career launching and growing iconic K-beauty brands in the US at Sephora and other retail channels, I knew I could do this.
